Everything you need to know to get started with After Effects in order to tackle exciting motion design projects. This includes, the uploading of data e.g. in Illustrator, the correct import, the handling of basic animation shapes, as well as the movement of vectors and vector specific properties. As well as dealing with speed, rhythm, typography, masking and the possibilities of images in AE. Finally, common rendering options and formats such as mp4 or lottie are looked at in order to be prepared to start your own motion design projects.

First, in this multi-day workshop, we also start with an introduction to After Effects, making it suitable for beginners and newcomers to AE. After that, the participants create a poster each in a playful manner, using the same basic elements for everyone. As a final activity of the workshop, each participant animates a transformation of their own poster into one created by another participant, resulting in an animated loop through all the posters as a conclusion.

The task is to animate a transition from their own word to another participant’s word, incorporating the feeling or movement described.
